fall and indian ladder farms

Ellen, Rowan, and I went recently to Indian Ladder Farms to pick out pumpkins, apples, cider, and other fall goodies. I had fun taking pictures of little Rowan among the pumpkins, and
Ellen has my photos up on her blog. The farm is iconic, with weathered shingles and green trim, boxes full of squash, bushels of apples, fresh apple cider donuts, and hot mulled cider... Dan and I actually went back to the farm again on Sunday afternoon, and wandered around, eating donuts and apples and feeding the animals.

Friday night we had some friends over for dinner and pumpkin carving - they came out great!

Holly's pumpkin met a tragic end...

Ellen's - loved the carrot nose!

my etched skull!

Ted's - I think this is Dan's med school garage band symbol...

This was Dan's, in partnership with Aaron and Steve
Our friend Ted plays the guitar for little Rowan (who is clanging along with his pot and wooden spoon).

We also tried to make caramel apples, and learned that a huge Sugar Daddy plus some Kraft caramels does not a caramel apple make... The apples were deliciously tooth-breaking, but they all got eaten anyway.

The Nebeker sisters try to eat their apples (on chopsticks)
Holly breaks a tooth (just kidding)
