first family camping trip

We had a great time camping last weekend with our friends, the Greenaways. The last time we all went camping together there were no kids yet - and now Rowan is 4! It was Bennett's first trip, and he seemed to love everything except... the tent. Which sucked. The tent was really fun if we were all playing in it, but there was no way he was going to be left along in there unless he was completely asleep. I guess I naively thought that he would just put himself to sleep in his pack-and-play, like he does when we travel, but he was NOT having that. We just cuddled together on the air mattress until he was asleep instead, and then I rejoined the adults around the fire. In the end, it was completely fine, and fun to sleep all together for a night. Except that in typical mama fashion, it seemed like I woke up every hour to put his hat back on him, or pull his blankets up - it was cold!! Anyway, we can't wait until next summer and the next trip!
