baby makes FOUR!

Dan and I are so excited to share the news that the newest member of the Kyle family will be arriving in late April of next year!!! The due date is officially April 20, which means, given my track record, that this baby will probably be born in May!

Bennett and his new baby brother or sister will be just shy of two years apart. Are we crazy?? Maybe, but apparently people have successfully done this before. It's hard for me to imagine what my not-quite-two-year-old will be doing while I nurse a newborn for 45 minutes, every 2 hours, but I suppose that's what books and family and Yo Gabba Gabba are for.

I'm getting little glimpses of what Bennett might be like with a younger sibling - on one hand, he already shows signs of jealousy when I give attention to other kids (or even my parent's dog!), but on the other hand, we have a little game where I rock his baby doll in my arms and sing "Rock-a-bye Baby" and he loves that. So I'm imagining he'll be jealous and sweet, as probably all older siblings are.

So far, knock on wood, this pregnancy has been pretty easy. Yes, I've been working through some nausea, tiredness, and food aversion, but all-in-all, it's been manageable. I think that's saying a lot since I've been in single-parent mode for a good chunk of my first trimester, while Dan's been working long hours at the hospital. I'm finding that it's very different to be pregnant with #2... The first time around, I had the luxury of lying nauseated on the couch and feeling sorry for myself; this time, I have a little munchkin who must be fed and dressed and played with, and who does not care if Mama feels a bit ill. (One-year-olds are not particularly empathetic.)

Anyway, this is the last week of my first trimester, and I can't believe how quickly it's gone already. We're one-third of the way to being a family of four!
