midd girls weekend

As usual, I had such a wonderful weekend with Naomi, Hamil, Eliza, and Sonali. The five of us studied abroad in Paris together and have been getting together about twice a year since we graduated from Middlebury. I'm so grateful to still count these amazing women as my dear friends nearly six years later.

Naomi, who managed to tear herself away from her blackberry for (most) of the weekend (she's the much-demanded deputy chief of staff for a U.S. congresswoman), and graciously hostessed us. On Friday night, she revived her French skill of opening wine bottles without an opener. The first time I ever saw her do this was on a train from Paris to Toulouse - this time around, she used a beater from her mixer...

Eliza, who, despite being about to graduate with a PhD from Harvard in astronomy, got carded to see an R-rated movie on Saturday night.

Hamil, our resident environmental geographer, spying on pandas during our visit to the zoo.

And our Sonali, who spends her days as a social worker for kids with special needs, always keeps us laughing.
