lots of christmas pictures

The Warren house, blanketed in snow, and decorated with Tyler's Christmas present to Dad from 1991, which reads "Best Dad in the World Happy Chrismas Love Tyler" (Dan found it in the basement and couldn't resist sticking it in the snow to welcome home my Dad on Christmas Eve)

Dan and I had a really nice Christmas in Maine this year. The recap for posterity's sake: the Kyles had the Warrens over for a great Christmas Eve dinner, and then we did early Christmas morning with the Kyles before heading over to my family's house for Christmas afternoon and dinner. On Friday, my aunt Betsy, uncle Nat, and cousin Josh (and his girlfriend Maria) came to visit - Dan and I hadn't seen them in over two years, since they've been circumnavigating (made it about halfway so far, Maine to New Zealand). That night, we had a fun reunion with Morgan, Ariel, and Jim, and ran into lots of other high school acquaintances out on the town. Saturday, we had our Christmas exchange with the Terry's and got to look through Rachel's incredible scrapbook from her Appalachian Trail hike from Georgia to Maine last year, and then spent the rest of the day watching movies on the Kyles' new 52" flatscreen (which we are guiltily coveting...). We all had dinner at my parents' house, capping the night off with boardgames (Wits and Wagers, and Risk, which Mom handily won)! We headed to Boston on Sunday, spending a nice, quiet night with Laura and Brad watching a movie on their 52" flatscreen (are we MISSING something?).

After a few days' work, we spent a fun, low-key New Year's Eve with Hamish, Ellen, Rowan, and Ellen's sister and father, who was in town for the holidays. On New Year's day, Dan and I headed up to Lapland Lake for a day of cross-country skiing (perfect weather!), getting back just in time for a multi-course (!) dinner party at Cate and Ed's, with Kendra, Ryan, and Rhys, and Hamish and Ellen. On Friday, we drove down to Stamford, CT, to visit with Vicky and Keith, and ended up staying up until 2:30 in the morning (playing Balderdash, which Dan schooled us in...). After a brunch at Curley's diner (perfect egg sandwich - one of my all-time favorite foods), we headed back to Albany, and spent the rest of the weekend watching Flight of the Conchords on Netflix.

Year of the owls!

Oakley wears Christmas ribbon - and under that, he's got his fabulous new wide reflective band collar made specially for him by Ellen, of Classic Hound!

Nona resumes her post as paper and ribbon collector/saver

Dad and G-Daddy belt out the bass part (I'm the alto - yikes - and Mariah is the soprano)

Just so you don't feel too bad about the 52 inch televisions that EVERYONE else has...we still have a 19 inch TV that Mike has had longer than he has known me (17 years) AND we don't have cable so we get a fuzzy PSB station and ABC, which only shows Home Makeover or The Bachelor. We went out and bought one of those little converter boxes so that we'll get SOMETHING after the big switch to digital TV in February. You're not alone.

Thanks Julie! The owl bag was not made by me, though - that's a great etsy find! No need for craft envy =)

Pam, we're sort of in the "use it until it breaks" frame of mind too, so I have a feeling we'll be holding on to our old TV for a few more years also =) (I hope not 17 more though... wow!)
