je suis arrivee a Paris!

It's my second day in Paris, and I've finally found a minute to say hi! More later, but first, one quick bit of news - it turns out that today is the Paris Marathon, which I watched 5 years ago when my friend Hamil ran it!! I saw the frontrunners just as I was leaving my hotel, and then positioned myself along the river and watched the pack, listened to the brass bands, and yelled "Allez! Allez!" with the crowds for an hour or so.

I'll put up more pictures later, but I must conserve my computer battery until I can get a U.S. plug adapter... Oh! One more thing: Dan, it turns out my hotel is just a couple blocks from Chez Paul - do you remember that wonderful restaurant that we ate at? I stumbled on it (and I don't mean stumble, as in du cidre) last night coming back from dinner, and I'm going to try to eat there tonight!

Wow, am I jealous. We got pummeled by a northeaster all day with tide and storm surge going into the public landing and onto the Camden Yacht Club lawn. Then we lost power for half the afternoon. Not much happens in an office with no computers, no lights, no telephone. I bet the runners at the Boston Marathon (run this morning) were wishing they were in Paris with you.

Hi honey! Of course I remember Chez Paul... even though I was only able to visit for a week while you were abroad in college, I feel like I have so many great memories of Paris. I wish I could have been there with you and order steak frites with bearnaise sauce (what I ordered at Chez Paul five years ago) and drink too much carafe wine. I even managed to catch a glimpse of the Paris Marathon when I visited, which was very cool... anyway, I miss you and I can't wait to see more pictures!
