the maine shower!

My mother, grandmother, and mother-in-law threw me a wonderful shower a couple of weeks ago at Nona's house in Topsham, Maine. Mom had pictures of everyone attending when they were babies, and we all had fun trying to figure out who was who. Our friend Pam made the amazing baby cake in the pictures below--and we were able to save the baby's head for a special occasion (birth? first birthday?)--and my mother-in-law, Marcy, made the adorable diaper cake, which has since been disassembled and is awaiting the babe. The shower was such a fun reminder of all the great people we'll be closer to once we move to Portland in less than 6 weeks.

The whole weekend was a huge success as well because we also found a fantastic house to rent in the back cove area of Portland - a little three bedroom home that's just a 5-10 commute to Maine Med for Dan and just a block from the four-mile trail that winds around the tidal bay. It was the first house we saw, and we just went for it - it feels great to have that out of the way and be able to picture this kiddo's first real home.
