Using my belly to facilitate online Christmas shopping...
It's been a big couple of weeks, literally! I feel like my belly has done some serious expansion since Thanksgiving, and I can now feel the top of my uterus behind my bellybutton, which is kind of crazy. My second trimester has been wonderful so far - I feel like I would be happy to be this pregnant forever... except for the fact that I want this baby in my arms, like NOW.
In just a week's time, we hit two major milestones - I will be halfway through my pregnancy AND we find out LJ's gender. I've heard from several people that mother's intuition is often right on the gender question, but I don't seem to be intuiting much... On the "it's a boy" side, there are certain "facts," including: (1) Aunt Mariah is intuiting that it will be a boy; (2) I did have a dream where it was a boy; (3) the ratio of boys-to-girls on Dan's side of the extended family tends heavily towards boys; (and 4) LJ seems to be pretty active, based on sonograms and dopplers, which is an old wives' sign for a boy. And on the "it's a girl" side, there's... not much. I always thought of the baby as a girl when we were trying to conceive, but that's about it! Plus Dan and I seem to have an easier agreement on girl's names. So based on the "scientific evidence," I guess it's a boy! We will know for sure next Monday.
Keeping with the holiday spirit, this week's photo features me in front of our little Christmas tree!

Now THAT is definitely a baby... not the aftermath of a large dinner :-) You look great Jesi! May the rest of your pregnancy be just as enjoyable. -Eliza
Great pics! That belly size looks awfully familiar...and I've been using my belly for the same thing! I'm glad I'm not the only one:-) And I love the little tree!-Margot
Ok, so I had a dream it was a boy, but i also had another dream where it was a girl. and then i had a dream that it was some sort of cat...
I just got so excited looking at these pictures, you're actually having a baby! i already feel a very special bond, both auntie and sisterly, and I can tell you why in another post :)
You look so beautiful! I'm so excited!
You look absolutely gorgeous!! You're such a basketball mom!! Other "scientific" ways of determining whether its a boy or girl:
Chinese Conception chart:

(TOTALLY fact! :))
I also saw this article:

(Hopefully you don't have to be hospitalized with such severe morning sickness in order to find out the gender before 20 weeks!!)
wow, you guys are all SO sweet to this pregnant lady!! thank you!
And Effie, I think that's just more proof that it's a boy - or so says the Chinese chart!
Beautiful Jesi! OK you really look pregnant now and not just the result of holiday eating (like me) Can't wait to see the 3 of you at New Years! Love, Alison
PS I'm determined to learn to knit in 2010 so would love the pattern.
You look great!! What an exciting time! :)
