july 4th, belatedly

We spent a really fun July 4th at Thatcher State Park with friends, lounging around, playing croquet, and tossing a frisbee. We had a huge potluck feast and BBQ, topped off with another trial wedding cake from the industrious Ellen, who is practicing for her little brother's wedding in a couple of weeks. The July 4th cake would have been a real conversation starter, but I am forbidden from sharing pictures of this thought-provoking confectionary masterpiece with you. The real moral of the story is that multi-tier wedding cakes should not travel on laps to picnic areas...
